Visa Services (Canadian Citizens)

You need a visa to enter many foreign countries, even if you are visiting as a tourist for a short period of time. If you plan to remain in a foreign country for a lengthy period (usually more than 90 days), even as a tourist, a visa will be required. And if you intend to work or study in a country, special permission to do so is required from the authorities of that country.

Some information on these requirements is included in our Country Travel Reports, the Tourist Visa Requirements page, and the list of countries where Canadians are required to have tourist visas in the Frequently Asked Questions section. However, for definitive information you should contact the embassy or consulate of the country you plan to visit. Addresses are included in the Travel Report for each country. In almost all instances, visas must be obtained before entering the other country.
