Industry Canada Actions and Partnerships

As part of its mandate to create the foundation for a more productive, competitive, knowledge-based economy, Industry Canada (IC) promotes sustainable development and the integration of economic, social and environmental objectives. Progress on corporate social responsibility elements such as corporate governance, environmental protection, human resource management practices, and community development is viewed as important for supporting objectives of the department relating to marketplace climate, innovation, trade, and investment.

Addressing CSR challenges in its internal departmental operations and encouraging effective integration of CSR into the way the corporate sector does business is part of IC's internal and external operations respectively.  IC also advances CSR related initiatives in response to Government commitments stemming from vehicles such as the Speech from the Throne and annual budgets.
