Academic Relations

Educational partnerships and cultural exchanges between Canada and Germany are plentiful. There are extensive Canadian Studies programmes in German universities (the largest such network outside the USA), as well as hundreds of exchange and work-study opportunities.

Canadian Studies Conference 2007
The Association for Canadian Studies in German-speaking Countries conference which takes place annually in Grainau, Germany, attracts many Canadianists from different disciplines. The 2007 conference is titled "Canada’s Constitution: Rights, Identities, Cultures" and will take place from February 16 to 18, 2007.

New Research Program by DAAD
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is pleased to offer - in cooperation with science organizations in North America and Germany - undergraduate students from the US and Canada in the fields of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth Sciences and Engineering to apply for a summer research internship in Germany. RISE summer placements are provided by German university research groups where the trainee will cooperate with a doctoral student and assist him/her in his/her experimental work. This program is funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Labor as part of the European Recovery Program (ERP). ...more

Aims of the Academic Relations Division

The mandate of the Academic Relations Division at the Canadian Embassy in Berlin is to assist Canadian-Studies activities in Germany, for both Canadian and German academics and to promote interdisciplinary Canadian studies.
