The aim of this paper is to investigate the relationship between productivity
and SD and Neo-Classical Economics (NCE). A key purpose is to help clarify where
both NCE and SD could support societal efforts to improve productivity (i.e.

This paper identifies the main characteristics of SD in the existing
economic literature. The hope is that these characteristics offer
consistency within a yet to be built model of SD that can be applied at
the international, open economy, industrial and firm level and whose components
are measurable.
