It was set p in 1972 and it’s been the focal point for many important protests over the years… but what does the future hold for the tent embassy site?. We follow the community consultation process and focus on three stakeholders. Tent Embassy activists, Gary Foley and Isabel Coe and ACT Elder, Matilda House who wants it removed.

Return of the Cootamundra Sisterhood
Awaye! joins a reunion of former residents of the Cootamundra Domestic Training Home for Aboriginal Girls which operated between 1912 and 1969.

Taken from their families as children under the assimilationist policies of the NSW Aboriginal Protection Board, hundreds of girls were trained for domestic service in white homes and farms. Until two memorials were unveiled on this occasion, there had been nothing at the place to acknowledge their experience.

As well as a place of 'education', it was also a place of loneliness and punishment. For some of the women this was the first time they had returned to this place since they left over forty years ago. Most of them will never come back again.

Amidst the sadness and the remembering, there are moments of the humour that kept the sisterhood going through the difficult times...
