On 7 December the Attorney-General Philip Ruddock introduced into Federal Parliament the Native Title Amendment Bill 2006. This bill is part of the Australian Government's reforms to deliver better outcomes in native title.

Native title in the East Kimberley

The Miriuwung, Gajerrong and Kija people in the east Kimberley region have been recognised as native title holders over land near the town of Kununurra.  The consent determination was delivered at a Federal Court sitting on 24 November.  See the media release.
