Regional Aircraft Certification Engineer

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must fully demonstrate in their application that they meet all of the minimum qualifications.

Education:

  • Graduation with a degree from a recognized university in an engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position or eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position

Experience

  • Significant and recent experience in an aeronautical engineering discipline related to the functions of the positions.

Citizenship:

Preference will be given to Canadian citizens. Functions:

Engineers in the Regional Offices provide regulatory oversight of aircraft modification and repair projects undertaken by airlines, maintenance organizations, private engineering consultants and aircraft owners. Aircraft types range from gliders to airline transports.

The technical knowledge required to do this work results in personnel whose engineering expertise lies in areas such as: aircraft structures, materials, mechanical systems, electrical systems, avionics and navigational systems, powerplants, engines and aircraft performance.

Functions include managing certification projects:

  • Defining the design's certification requirements
  • Providing advice and guidance on methods and procedures to meet these requirements
  • Reviewing the analytical test data generated to substantiate a Transport Canada approval of the repair or modification.

Employees also participate in regional and national audits of major airlines and maintenance organizations where aircraft certification activities take place.

Aircraft types range from gliders to airline transports.
