Self-Marking of Terminal Equipment The self-marking of terminal equipment initiative began in 2003. It permits equipment manufacturers to mark their equipment themselves instead of obtaining labels from Industry Canada. Marking or labelling is a requirement under telecommunications regulations. The self-marking initiative provides manufacturers with the flexibility of marking or embossing their own equipment.

Status of ASD Proposal: Ongoing
As of December 2004, Industry Canada ceased providing labels, and manufacturers have to mark the equipment themselves. William McCrum
