Welcome to the Kitigan Zibi Education Council's Community Web Site. You will find many links that will guide you to information about our settings, our business resources, our education system, our heritage and much more. We are a proud member of the Algonquin First Nation and are located near the town of Maniwaki, Quebec Canada. Originally known as the "River Desert Band" we have since changed our name to "Kitigan Zibi" (which means "Garden River" in our Algonquin language) in the mid-eighties. We hope that you find this site unique and informative, please enjoy your visit. | Want to learn some
of the Algonquin language? Why not check out our "Learning Algonquin through
Flash" section. Click here to view this
animated learning section of our site. Every
year Kitigan Zibi hosts it's annual "KZ traditional Pow Wow". Click here to check out the KZ Pow Wow site. On the same
week as the Pow Wow, each year Kitigan Zibi also hosts the "Miss Algonquin Nation
Competition". The winner of this pageant goes on to compete in Albuquerque, New
mexico at the "Miss Indian World Competition". Click here for more information Looking for
