The Program

The Aboriginal and Northern Community Action Program (ANCAP), is a follow-up program that builds on the positive experience of the Aboriginal and Northern Climate Change Program (ANCCP) which operated between 2001 and 2003. The ANCCP created a high level of awareness and interest in energy use and production among Aboriginal and northern communities. Many opportunities to reduce GHG emmissions were identified in these communities, which led to the announcement in 2003 of an additional $30.7 Million of federal funding over 4 years and the launch of the ANCAP program.
