Guide to Mineral Exploration and Development
in the Northwest Territories
The regulatory framework for mineral exploration and development has
changed significantly over the past few years. New legislation and land
claim agreements have changed the way that mining activities are reviewed
and approved. This guide contains essential information on virtually every
legislated requirement that is associated with the mining industry and
provides links to key pieces of legislation affecting mineral development.
In addition information about communities in the north and contact addresses
and phone numbers are provided. For convenience digital copies of a variety
of forms are available.
How to Find Information
The guide comprises 10 databases on different topics to let you find
information in a variety of ways. You can access these databases directly
using the buttons on the left. If the database name does not remain highlighted
as you view the database information, double click on the database button.
Most pages provide links to related information in the various databases.

are available in PDF form (portable document format).
To read the electronic version of a document in PDF format, you will need to use Acrobat Reader. You can download and install the free reader from the Internet Website of Adobe Systems Incorporated.
Please visit Access Adobe to help make PDF files accessible to screen reading utilities. These tools convert Adobe PDF documents into HTML or ASCII text which can then be read by a number of common screen reading programs that synthesize
text as audible speech.
