Past to Future

Welcome to the home page of the Mitchikanibikok Inik, the Algonquins of Barriere Lake. We are a traditional hunting and gathering culture trying to maintain our traditions in the industrialized 21st century. We have lived on our territory for over 6,000 years. We survive as a culture by living in harmony with the land.  On these pages you will learn more about our struggle to protect the waterways, the forests and the animals that keep our people strong.
