![]() 2-02368 GOVERNMENT OF CANADA ASSISTS IN ENSURING FUTURE OF UNION OF ONTARIO INDIANS YOUTHTHUNDER BAY, ONTARIO (September 2, 2003) - On behalf of the Government of Canada, the Honourable Robert D. Nault, Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development is pleased to announce an investment of approximately $960,000 for National Child Benefit (NCB) programming in 24 Union of Ontario Indians (UOI) communities.
"Building strong sustainable communities means working in partnership with First Nations, the provinces and territories to ensure a healthy future for young people," said Minister Nault. "The Government of Canada is committed to the well-being of First Nations youth and is pleased to support the many initiatives that First Nations are currently undertaking." In 2002-2003, through the reinvestment component of the National Child Benefit, Indian and Northern Affairs Canada provided $8,118,090 for Ontario First Nation communities for initiatives designed to improve the lives of their children and families.
