Governance Pilot Project of the Opitciwan First Nation


The Conseil des Atikameks d'Opitciwan assumes the mandate of implementing an electoral code and a process to enact by-laws representing the community's consensus.

As mentioned in the project "Working group's mandate on by-laws and judicial processing. (...) The working group conducts a follow-up on statements of offense, fines, etc., and issues recommendations on the selection of the judicial processing, such as the Elders Council and/or the Court of Justice."

The Obedjiwan reserve is located on the northern shore of the Gouin Reservoir, 143 kilometres south of Chibougamau.
