Governance Pilot Project of the Innus Essipit First Nation
The Governance Pilot Project of the Conseil de la Premiere nation des Innus Essipit is consistent with the continuation of the development of human resources management tools in relation with the development plan. This project completes the development of essential tools and the achievement of activities that are required to improve the development of good management practices, not only in today's context, but also from the standpoint of increasing powers within the continuum of self-government.
As mentioned by the First Nation: "Major changes that occurred within our organization over the past two years compel us to review not only the majority of job descriptions, but also, and mostly, our remuneration tools, such as assessment, determination of wages, wage policies and social benefits."
The reserve of Essipit is located on the northern shore of the St. Lawrence, near Les Escoumins Bay, 40 kilometres northeast of Tadoussac. The community of Essipit is part of the Conseil tribal Mamuitun, which is currently negotiating a comprehensive land claim.
