![]() For immediate release 2-02101 COOPERATION PLAN FOR COORDINATED REVIEW OF A POTENTIAL MAJOR NORTHERN PIPELINE RELEASED FOR PUBLIC COMMENT YELLOWKNIFE - The chairs of the boards and agencies responsible for assessing and regulating energy developments in the Northwest Territories released their draft Cooperation Plan today for public comment. The Cooperation Plan outlines, in principle, how the parties would coordinate their response to any proposal to build a major natural gas pipeline through the Northwest Territories. The public will have until March 8, 2002 to provide comments on this plan. The draft Cooperation Plan has been presented by the Chairs of the Boards and Agencies to the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, the Honourable Robert Nault. The parties involved in developing the draft Cooperation Plan are: the National Energy Board, the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency, the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, the Mackenzie Valley Environmental Impact Review Board, the Mackenzie Valley Land and Water Board, the NWT Water Board, the Government of the Northwest Territories, the Environmental Impact Screening Committee and the Environmental Impact Review Board for the Inuvialuit Settlement Region, the Inuvialuit Settlement Region Land Administration, the Inuvialuit Game Council, the Sahtu Land and Water Board, and the Gwich'in Land and Water Board.
