Dangerous Goods Container Inspection ProgramTransport Canada Marine Safety Inspectors designated as inspectors under the Canada Shipping Act, Transport of Dangerous Goods Act, and the Safe Container Convention Act, carry out inspections in Canada using relevant IMO codes and guidelines as standards. A formal inspection regime is in place in Vancouver, Montreal and Halifax at the main container terminals to monitor compliance with the IMDG Code and the Safe Containers Convention Act. The results of these inspections are entered on a regular basis in a Web-based application that allows for recording and management of dangerous goods inspections. These reports are also forwarded to the Maritime Safety Committee of the International Maritime Organization.
