The Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions
CFNU is the largest organization of nurses in Canada. It represents the
nine largest nurses' unions in the country, from Newfoundland & Labrador
to British Columbia, with a combined membership of over 125,000.
Founded in 1981, the CFNU is governed by a volunteer board comprised
of the top officers of its member unions. The federation is led by a president
and secretary-treasurer who are elected to two years terms by delegates
to the biennial convention.
CFNU's mandate is to protect and promote at the Parliament and to the
national government the interests of nurses, patients, and Canada's not-for-profit
health care system.
CFNU's offices are in Ottawa.
