Nicolas has been with CANUTEC since January, 2006. Prior to his employment with CANUTEC, he has worked for AAFC’s Eastern Cereal and Oilseed Research Center in the Bioproducts, Bioprocesses and Bioinformatics group working on Fusarium infection of wheat heads.

Nicolas obtained his honors B.Sc. in Biochemistry and B. Ed. from the University of Ottawa in 2004 and 2005.

His present responsibilities are shared between CANUTEC’s Emergency Centre and his personal research. While in the Centre, he provides technical advice to emergency responders and coordinates response activities during chemical emergencies. His duties include providing advice on the safe handling and transportation of dangerous goods according to applicable acts & regulations.


Nicolas has successfully completed the NFPA 472 Awareness, Operations and  Technician Levels Hazardous Material Response, the AAR Highway Emergency Response Specialist training as well as other courses and seminars related to chemical release and emergency response. Furthermore, he has completed the Inspector level course for the TDGR Clear Language Regulations (Canada)
