Jean-Pierre has been with CANUTEC since August, 1992. Prior to his employment with CANUTEC, he has worked as an industrial chemist in the water treatment and speciality chemical manufacturing fields, including the implementation of the TDGR and WHMIS requirements in his workplace. Jean-Pierre obtained his B. Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Western Ontario in 1978. 

His present responsibilities are shared between CANUTEC’s Emergency Centre and his personal research projects. While in the Centre, he provides technical advice to emergency responders and co-ordinates response activities during chemical emergencies. His duties also include providing advice on the safe handling and transportation of dangerous goods according to applicable acts & regulations. His personal research projects include gas dispersion modelling, an electronic logbook and an interactive computer version of the Emergency Response Guidebook. Jean-Pierre has also participated in the preparation of the 1996 North American Emergency Response Guidebook and the 2000 Emergency Response Guidebook

Jean-Pierre has completed the NFPA 472 Operations and Technician level Hazmat training as well as other courses and seminars related to chemical releases and emergency response. Furthermore, he has completed Inspector level courses for the TDGR Clear Language (Canada) and participated in a session of the TDG Aviation Inspector recurrent training program related to the ICAO Technical Instructions.
