Introduction to Community Infrastructure on Reserves
This section looks at the planning, construction and maintenance of infrastructure facilities and services in First Nation communities on reserves. There is information on the policies of the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development (DIAND) on water and sewer services, roads and bridges, fire protection, electrification, education facilities, the operation and maintenance of community facilities, and other topics. Other documents discuss generally accepted practices that First Nations may find useful in managing and administering community infrastructure activities and maintenance programs in their communities. These include guidelines for construction contracting and for the contracting of professional and non-professional services.
