Modern Comptrollership is a centrepiece of the government's medium-term agenda for management change as set out in Results for Canadians. To help employees search for training, a comprehensive list has been compiled containing training workshops and learning-related developmental programs offered by INAC, the Canadian Centre for Management Development (CCMD), Training and Development Canada (TDC) and universities.
People are the strength of this organization. The department's capacity to meet today's challenges and more importantly the challenges of tomorrow is dependent upon having highly motivated people, committed to Public Service values with the right training and leadership skills to ensure the continued success of this organization. This department is committed to ensuring a environment that fosters strong public service values and ethics (available only in PDF format 67 Kb), and promotes continuous learning, innovation in leadership. The focus of this site is learning as it relates to Modern Comptrollership.
E-Learning Tools
Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS), in conjunction with Canadian Centre for Management Development (CCMD), has developed an on-line course on modern comptrollership, entitled Modern Comptrollership: An Integrated Approach to Decision-Making. This is an on-line overview of Modern Comptrollership, covering the basics of the four pillars and the three enablers. It is being offered free of charge and requires about 90 minutes, though since it is on-line, you can stop and re-start whenever and wherever you wish. The course is in no way intended to replace those classroom on modern comptrollership already offered by CCMD and Training and Development Canada (TDC), which are far more in-depth; however, given that many managers find it difficult to find the time or funding for classroom course, this on-line course meets the need of raising awareness among managers. A further benefit is that the course serves as a primer for managers prior to attending the classroom courses.
