Estates Overview
The responsibility of the Estates Program is to provide assistance in the administration of estates of First Nations individuals and to enhance the knowledge of estate administration among First Nations and First Nations individuals. This is primarily done at the regional level. Headquarters is responsible for developing national policy and procedures and providing advise to regional staff on the administration of estates. In addition, headquarters is responsible for dealing with issues that arise from the Minister’s quasi-judicial role relating to administration of estates under the jurisdiction of the Minister.
