Welcome to Indian and Northern Affairs Canada's Public Registry for environmental
assessments in the Nunavut Region.
Under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 1992, a federal
responsible authority (RA) has obligations to meet with respect to access
to information.
Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) is committed to facilitating
public participation in the environmental assessments of projects to be
carried out in Nunavut. This site provides information on Projects
in Nunavut which Indian and Northern Affairs Canada is a responsible federal
authority. Aside from this source, to find environmental assessments that
have been carried out under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act
(CEAA) is the Federal
Environmental Assessment Index (FEAI), an electronic database which
provides basic information on the federal environmental asessments.
In the Nunavut region, Indian and Northern Affairs Canada works closely
with the Nunavut Impact Review Board (NIRB) to screen and review environmental
assessments. The Nunavut Impact Review Board, which conducts the EA process
under the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement, has an ftp site where documents related to projects undergoing screening and
review can also be found.
