What We Do

At the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy (OSB), one of our important roles is to provide services and timely information to help people learn about bankruptcy and insolvency law. We also provide other valuable services:

  • We supervise the administration of estates in bankruptcy, commercial reorganizations, consumer proposals and receiverships;
  • we maintain a publicly accessible record of bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings;
  • we record and investigate complaints with respect to the insolvency process;
  • we license private sector trustees; and
  • we set and enforce professional standards for the administration of estates.

But mostly, we are here for you.

Whether you're looking for general information or you are a creditor, debtor, or a trustee looking for specific information about your situation, we'll help you get the information you need and make the bankruptcy process easier for you to understand.

To learn more about the role of the OSB, we encourage you to visit About Us and the Framework Document.
