MANDATE OF CFSL
Given the mandate of the Canadian Foreign Service Institute (CFSI) to support the Canadian
government’s international relations goals and objectives to promote global understanding
and international effectiveness, the Centre for Language Training (CFSL) offers
LANGUAGE TRAINING
to employees of all federal, provincial and territorial government departments and agencies,
Canadian organizations involved in international relations, Non-Government Organizations,
members of diplomatic missions in Ottawa, the media and the private sector.
GLOBAL INTERDEPENDENCE
Linguistic diversity is a key element in Canada's cultural
heritage. Canada is a modern, technologically advanced and culturally
diverse country, well equipped to benefit from the opportunities of greater global
interdependence.
Foreign languages are for those who want to be real
players in the 21st century. The most
exciting frontiers in this century are going to come from what you
know. Studying foreign languages will give you an advantage.
Deepen and enrich your perception of the world, gain
knowledge and understanding of another culture, learn to
appreciate its uniqueness, promote global understanding
and international effectiveness, and help build bridges
among nations.
Proficiency in a foreign language will prepare you to function
productively and to do business in a global village. Whether you are negotiating your
way through a trade agreement or a sales contract, the command of a foreign language
will give you an inside advantage and will open new opportunities for you.
Learning languages opens doors and everyone can do it!
