arrow Province to pay for ambulance transfers
The province will begin funding the full patient cost of inter-facility transports. Medically-necessary, land ambulance inter-facility transports happen when a patient is being transferred between designated health-care facilities for diagnostic tests or treatment, or from a more specialized level of care to another facility closer to home for rehabilitation or recovery.

Legislation to enhance patient safety by allowing improved investigation of critical incidents will take effect on Nov 1.

arrow Influenza vaccine update
In August 2006, the Public Health Agency of Canada announced that due to manufacturing problems, production of this year’s influenza vaccine has been delayed. The delay in the arrival of vaccine does not mean there will be a shortage of vaccine, according to Manitoba Health.
