  Transport Canada - Security and the Canada Border Services Agency have been working with the United States Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to find an appropriate solution to respond to the United States Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users SAFETEA-LU requirement for drivers hauling dangerous goods into the US to undergo background checks similar to those required of US hazmat commercial drivers.

  On February 10, 2006, the TSA published a notice in the Federal Register extending the implementation deadline for Canadian commercial drivers hauling dangerous goods into the United States until August 10, 2006.

  We will continue to keep you informed as we work towards a long-term solution.
