Eric has been with CANUTEC since October 1986. Prior to his employment with CANUTEC, he has worked for the Canadian and Newfoundland governments in the analytical chemistry field with applications to forestry and the environment. Eric obtained his B. Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Moncton in 1977.

His present responsibilities are shared between CANUTEC’s Emergency Centre and his personal research. While in the Centre, he provides technical advice to emergency responders and coordinates response activities during chemical emergencies. His duties also include providing advice on the safe handling and transportation of dangerous goods according to applicable acts & regulations.

His personal research projects include maintaining data bases for protective clothing & dangerous good cleanup companies in addition to publishing articles of various topics about hazmat emergency response. Eric has also participated in the preparation of the 1992 Initial Emergency Response Guide and the 1996 North American Emergency Response Guidebook.

Eric has completed the NFPA 472 Operations-level Hazmat training in addition to numerous specific courses in emergency response. Furthermore, he has completed Inspector level courses for TDGR Clear Language (Canada) & Title 49 CFR (U.S.).
