BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES
Ministerial Representative for Nunavut Devolution Negotiations: Mr. Paul Mayer
Mr. Mayer is a highly respected member of his profession. He holds an Honours B.A. in History and Political Science and a Doctorat d'Université in International Relations and Community Law. He is a senior member of the law profession with over 20 years of legal experience. Mr. Mayer is a member of several organizations and is currently the Chairman of the Board of the 'Fond d'indemnisation du courtage immoblier', an independent agency created under the Quebec Real Estate Brokerage Act. He is also a member of the Canadian and Quebec Bar Associations and has served as President of the Montreal Division for the Hong Kong-Canada Business Association.
Mr. Mayer has public relations experience and an extensive publication and public speaking record in his field of practice. Some of his publications include: Protecting the Public in Real Estate Transactions; Environmental Liability; The Fast Track to Justice; and The New Civil Code of Québec: Adhesion Contracts and the Obligation of Good Faith. He has also presided and delivered speeches on a number of subjects at various conferences. Among many other conferences, in June, 2006, he served as co-chair at la Conférence avancée sur les baux, Institut Canadien; and in February 2006 he was involved in the Colliers International (Québec) Petit déjeuner which focused on: Two Recent Judgments: Clear and Precise Clauses are Necessary to Make them Enforceable.
