The Policy Analysis unit works closely with the other directorates in Air Policy and provides analytical support on most of the issues facing the Branch. One of the main responsibilities of the unit is to track developments affecting the air industry and to quantify their impacts on the industry, travellers and shippers. Activities: In general, this involves tracking the financial and operational results published in industry and government sources. Depending on the issue, analysis may be conducted at the national or global level (e.g. the status of domestic competition) or at the local level (e.g. the impact of cessation of air service to a community). Although much of the work is quantitative, analysis is needed to interpret often-conflicting reports from various sources, to address information gaps, and to support the specific requirements of policy work.
