UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues In 1994, the United Nations General Assembly launched the International Decade of the World's Indigenous Peoples (1995-2004) to increase the United Nations' commitment to promoting and protecting the rights of indigenous peoples worldwide. When the Programme of Activities for the International Decade of the World's Indigenous Peoples was adopted, the Permanent Forum was recognized as one of the primary objectives of the Decade.

Choike is a portal on Southern Civil Societies that includes sections on people, society, environment, communications and globalization.

Canada and the Circumpolar World is a Canadian government site with clear and useful information on economic, environmental, cultural, and political issues from around the arctic.

The Development Gateway helps communities, organizations, and individuals around the globe share ideas virtually, for economic development and poverty reduction. Its Aboriginal content areas are diverse, frequently updated and growing.

Indigenous Media Network was created with a goal to report on the first-ever meeting of the UN Indigenous Forum and aims to continue to cover more international meetings and events in the future that are crucial to the promotion of indigenous rights.

The Indigenous Knowledge Dossier is intended to contribute to the exchange of information on this topic by providing relevant annotated links to external websites, offering access to discussion groups and to electronic versions of key reports and documents.

The Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education (Nuffic) hosts "IK-pages," an Indigenous Knowledge gateway linking viewers to up-to-date news on IK and hundreds of useful IK sites worldwide.

UNESCO's LINKS project -- Local and Indigenous Knowledge Systems -- aims to mobilize knowledge systems in local communities to strengthen their capacity to make their own informed choices for a sustainable future.
