Special Rapporteur's Visit

NABA 2004

Who Are We?

Aboriginal Planet is built and maintained by the Aboriginal and Circumpolar Affairs Division of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International trade (DFAIT). We provide resources for people to learn more about the aboriginal dimension of Canada's international relations, through the government documentation and subject primers available in the Resource Centre, the annotated hyperlinks to domestic and international sources located in Links, and the material available on Canadian aboriginal activities in dozens of individual countries in Around the World. The site also provides tools for aboriginal Canadians to get onto the world stage with our International Opportunities and Business Centre sections.

Aboriginal Planet Online Magazine reports on the Canadian aboriginal events taking place around the world and on important international aboriginal events taking place in Canada. Canada's aboriginal people are taking an increasingly prominent role on the world stage, in fields such as the fine arts, trade and economic development, environmental protection, international co-operation, and more. Aboriginal affairs are also an increasingly significant part of Canada's international relations, both bilaterally and multilaterally. Aboriginal Planet believes that Canadians, both aboriginal and non-aboriginal, should know more about these important and interesting trends.

Aboriginal Planet online magazine is "published" once a month. The stories on overseas events are contributed by Canadian Embassies and Consulates abroad; stories on international events in Canada come from a variety of sources, governmental and non-governmental. Aboriginal Planet Online Magazine is edited by the Aboriginal and Circumpolar Affairs Division of DFAIT.
