Welcome to the May 2003 issue of Aboriginal Planet! Aboriginal Planet Online Magazine reports on Aboriginal Canadian involvement at international events around the world. This month we feature a special issue on Brazil-Canadian relations. From the upper Xingu region of Mato Grosso to Bahia state in the northeast of Brazil, our stories cover recent meetings with the Pataxó and Xingu tribes and a visit by the Karajas tribe to Canada. The growing relationship on Aboriginal issues between these two countries involves government, NGOs, academics, and Indigenous leaders. Our May issue also highlights success stories of a number of Aboriginal Canadian exporters and the first ever international conference on Information Technologies and Indigenous peoples!

If you aren't already using Aboriginal Planet's enhanced site, check it out - same content, better resolution and graphics. We also want to hear from you about changes you would like to see on the site. Write us at aboriginalplanet@dfait-maeci.gc.ca.

Our cover picture features Cacique (chief) Zezito Pataxó. We would like to thank the Cacique for his hospitality in Brazil and his permission to use this photo.
