Washington IFIs welcome Canadian Aboriginal Business Delegation

Grand Chief Joe Norton and Charles Bassett, Canadian Executive Director at the Inter American Development Bank, speaking at a lunch/presentation hosted by Mr. Bassett on Indigenous Peoples and Connectivity.

Two International Financial Institutions (IFI's) invited a high caliber of 12 Canadian Aboriginal business people from B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario to come to Washington. In a 2 day seminar series entitled: "Indigenous peoples and sustainable development" the World Bank and Inter-American Development Bank staff wished to learn more about Canadian Aboriginal expertise in the natural resource, high technology and cultural tourism sectors in order to apply this knowledge to indigenous peoples' business projects in the Americas.
