Foreign Affairs Scholarships

Canadian Students Wishing to Study Abroad

Scholarship opportunities for Canadian students wishing to study or conduct research abroad can be found at http://www.scholarships-bourses-ca.org/canadians-en.html. In most cases, before becoming eligible for a scholarship, the applicant must have completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree at a recognized institution or an equivalent qualification. Foreign students already present in Canada can apply, however, candidates who have applied for landed immigrant status are not eligible.

Foreign Students Wishing to Come to Canada

Foreign students are strongly encouraged to contact the nearest Canadian Embassy or High Commission in their home country to inquire about the availability of awards for study in Canada. Information on some scholarship programs, including the Canadian Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Program, the Government of Canada Awards, and the OAS Fellowship Program can be found by consulting http://www.scholarships-bourses-ca.org/canadians-en.html.

Canada-U.S Fulbright Scholarships

Information on the Foundation for Educational Exchanges between Canada and the United States (the Canada-U.S. Fulbright Program), which encourages academic exchanges between Canada and the United States, can be found at www.fulbright.ca.

Canada-China Scholars' Exchange Programme

This program is intended to enhance Chinese and Canadian scholars knowledge and understanding of each other's country. The government of each country offers awards to scholars of the other country to conduct research. The minimum term is four months, the maximum twelve months.

Canadian applicants may be faculty members or students. Canada offers awards to non-academics in China holding senior professional posts (e.g., judges, broadcasters, economists) so that upon their return home they can make a distinctive contribution to life in their country and to mutual understanding between Canada and China.

Participants receive return airfare and a monthly stipend.
