Railway Safety

Rail transport is subject to the federal Railway Safety Act. Railway companies are responsible for operating and maintaining their systems in compliance with this legislation.

The role of the Regional Railway Safety Directorate is to ensure compliance with safety standards through inspections, investigations and enforcement of legislation and regulations.

When an incident or accident is reported, this group conducts safety assessment at railway works to ensure that the appropriate corrective measures are applied.
