Departmental employees may request items by email or by phoning (819) 997-0799. Simply specify the date of the list and the number beside each item you wish to borrow.

Anyone not working for the department who wishes to borrow items may do so by requesting an interlibrary loan through their own library.

Please note: an asterisk (*) indicates that this information is available only to employees of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada who are connected to the INAC network.

  • Dictionary of Canadian Biography Online (for employees only)*
    From the University of Toronto Press and Les Presses de l'Université Laval. Made available free-of-charge on the Internet by Canadian Heritage. To date, some 7,790 authoritative biographies are available for persons who died between the years 1000 and 1930, or whose last known activity falls within these years. Biographies for the years 1931-1980 are forthcoming.

  • Early Canadiana Online (for employees only)*
    From Canadiana.org (formerly the Canadian Institute for Historical Microreproductions). Provides access to over 2.2 million pages of Canada's printed heritage contained in more than 14,500 volumes. It features works published from the time of the first European settlers up to the early 20th century. Additional documents are continually being added.
