The NWT Archives' primary task is to ensure that a fair, accurate
and complete record of government activity is identified, acquired
and preserved. The NWT Archives attempts to ensure that the preservation
of archives relevant to the human history of the NWT, created
by individuals and organizations in the private sector, are also
preserved and made accessible. Our holdings document the history
of the NWT including among other things the oral tradition and
history of the NWT first nations, constitutional development
in the NWT leading up to the creation of Nunavut, the activities
of the Government of the Northwest Territories since 1967, the
fur trade, aviation industry and the development of the mining
industry. |
