The Railway Safety Consultative Committee:

1. provides a forum for open communication between Transport Canada and their stakeholders on railway safety and environmental issues
2. informs parties including railway companies, railway labour unions, other government bodies and representatives of the public
3. establishes action priorities for the development of regulations and rules
