![]() AboriginalsFedNor consulted extensively with the Aboriginal community to ensure that new initiatives developed in the redesign of our programs would meet their needs in a pro-active and culturally sensitive manner. Substantial investments have been made in co-operatively developed projects including a Northern Ontario Aboriginal youth conference, cross-cultural training for FedNor staff and other economic development partners, business service network development and an Aboriginal telecommunications study. FedNor has made a commitment of $27.094 Million to 258 Aboriginal since 1996, which has been contributed to Aboriginal controlled projects in community economic development, access to business development capital and information services, tourism, forestry, telecommunications and youth internships. FedNor continues to work with other departments of the federal government, such as Aboriginal Business Canada and the Canada Business Service Centre, to improve access to capital and business services across Canada, and to develop and implement our regional approach to Aboriginal programming in Northern Ontario. |
