The PEI Public Service Commission is an independent and impartial agency responsible for providing leadership and coordination to human resources in the public sector of the province. The Commission services all government departments and agencies, the five regional health authorities and other public sector employers. The Commission provides a full range of integrated human resource services including Classification, Recruitment and Selection, Organizational Design and Development, Human Resource Planning, Payroll and Benefits Administration, Policy Development, Occupational Health and Safety, Labour Relations, and Employee Assistance Program.

Classification and Employee Relations



WHAT WE DO


The Classification and Employee Relations Division is responsible for building harmonious and mutually beneficial working relationships that promote the well being and increased productivity of all employees. This is fostered through leadership, coordination and advice and assistance in the areas of labour relations and classification initiatives within government departments, agencies, and regional health authorities involving various unions. This includes advice and assistance in organization design, job description writing, and compensation research. The division is also responsible for the Employee Assistance Program and the Occupational Health and Safety Program.

Corporate Services



WHAT WE DO


The Corporate Services Division is responsible for fostering mutually beneficial relationships with the Commission's clients through the coordination of progressive forward thinking pension/benefit services and programs, payroll, policy development, and human resource information services. The division administers both the excluded and unionized Training and Development Funds and directs the French Language Training Program. This division is also responsible for internal financial and administrative management and information technology development for the Commission.

Staffing and Human Resource Planning



WHAT WE DO


The PEI Public Service Commission provides staffing, recruitment, diversity, and human resource planning programs and services to provincial government departments and agencies, five regional health authorities and other public sector employers, as required. The Staffing and Human Resource Planning Division's primary responsibility is to foster the development of a progressive workforce of public service employees by providing proactive human resource planning, recruitment and selection initiatives in collaboration with the employer. The division provides guidance in corporate human resource planning, services in the promotion of diversity planning, and staffing services in accordance with hiring practices as outlined in legislation, regulation, and collective agreements. The selection of qualified staff is performed in collaboration with the employer, using a process of candidate screening, testing (if required), interviewing, referencing and appointment based upon fairness, impartiality and consistency.
