Help with MapGuide Maps

Zooming In: See more detail

Use the zoom in tool to display less of the map in more detail. Click on the tool and then, while holding down your left mouse button, draw a rectangle on the map surrounding the area you'd like to see in more detail.

Zooming Out: See more Island

Use the zoom out tool to display more of the map in less detail. Click on the tool and then, click on the point in the map that you'd like to appear in the centre of the "zoomed out" map.

Unzooming: See the entire Island

Use the unzoom tool to "zoom out" and display the entire map of the Island.

Panning: Scroll the map window

To move up, down, right or left from your current location on the map, simply click on the pan tool, move your mouse to the map, and click and hold the left mouse button while you drag the map in the desired direction.

Clicking: For more information

For many of the features on our maps, we have additional information available. If, when you're pointing at a feature, your mouse pointer turns into a "hand", then you can double-click on that feature to get more information.

Zoom Goto: Jump to a location

Use the zoom goto tool to zoom in on a particular feature on the map. A dialog box will appear offering you a choice of what type of feature to search for, a blank to fill in with what you want to search for, and a "zoom to width" box to indicate how far you want to see around the feature. For example, to jump to the 5 miles around the community of Kingston, click zoom goto, select "Community/Geographic Feature" from to Category list, type "Kingston" in the Location field, type "5" in the Zoom to width field and click on OK.
