Productivity Through Eco-efficiency
Productivity Through Eco-efficiency is a key theme in Industry Canada's Sustainable Development Strategy 2000-2003. This portion of the Strategy places emphasis on enhancing the capacity of Canadians, industries and firms to develop and use eco-efficient practices, tools, technologies and products that contribute to increased productivity and environmental performance.

In chapter 10 Industry Canada's researchers argue that the traditional economic-environement trade-off will no longer exist, or at least will be attenuated, in an innovative, knowledge-based economy through investments and innovations that raise productivity while lessening the environmental impact of economic activity.
