Licensing and Ratings

The tourism operators of PEI are committed to quality and cleanliness in their accommodations. All properties listed on this site have been inspected to ensure they meet the Province's and industry's standards of clean-liness and state of repair. Properties listed as "license pending" were under construction or renovation at the time of publication and not available for inspection. Inspections on these properties are completed prior to receiving guests. Before booking an accommodation not listed in this Guide, please confirm that it is licensed and inspected. Look for a posted license prior to check-in.

Information contained in this Guide has been supplied by the operators and although rates are guaranteed, the accuracy of descriptions is not. Details included in listings are meant to assist consumers in making choices, and not intended to discriminate in any way. Prices are listed in Canadian dollars and unless otherwise stated, do not include tax. A room that rents for $100 CDN costs only about $65 US (based on exchange at time of printing). Rates provided are high season. Many accommodations offer significant discounts during the off season. Cancellation and deposit policies are set by the individual operators. Always check these policies prior to booking. The area code for PEI is 902.

Canada Select

Within each of the colour-coded regions, accommodations are listed alphabetically according to the rating categories. Many listings show a Canada Select rating, which is based on a set of standards used across the country. If you use a three-star property elsewhere in Canada, you will find PEI three-star properties comparable.

Ratings are based on an overall score which measures a property's facilities, services, quality and amenities. An additional half-star is awarded to properties where quality exceeds the requirement for its star rating. The rating program is voluntary and some operators choose not to participate; an unrated property does not imply low standards. Please read the accommodation listings carefully, and ask the operator concerning specific needs.

Camping Select

Campgrounds are rated using a two-tier system: facilities/service (F) evaluates entrance, store, restrooms, roadways, grounds, security, laundry, and general quality; recreation (R) evaluates programs, activities and recreational facilities and is scored separately. Listed campgrounds are required to maintain high standards of cleanliness and state of repair in accordance with provincial regulations. Camping Select is a voluntary rating program in which some operators choose not to participate.
