Location - Community Hospital, O’Leary / Western Hospital, Alberton: The Medical Laboratory Technologist 1 assumes administrative responsibilities related to the activities of the medical laboratory; assists with the diagnosis and treatment of patients by performing a variety of standard biochemistry, haematology, bacteriology, serology, cytology and histology analyses, examinations and technical procedures; assists with the development and monitoring of test procedures and quality assurance practices; and performs other related and allied duties which contribute to the orderly and efficient operation of the department.
Qualifications: Applicants must have a formal program of study in Laboratory Technology which is recognized by the employer and current registration with the Canadian Society of Laboratory Technologists. Applicants must have considerable employment experience as a registered Laboratory Technologist supplemented with supervisory and/or management course work and experience. Experience and/or courses in statistics would be considered assets. The successful applicant must have a good previous work and attendance record. Preference will be given to members of the IUOE Bargaining Unit of the former West Prince Health.

HOURS OF WORK: 75 hours bi-weekly / Days / Emergency on-call duty / Stand-by
Applicants are expected to complete the full length of this assignment unless applying for a permanent position

Salary Range: | $20.53 - $25.20 per hour
