On December 9 in Island history...

1818 Henry Smith, the lieutenant governor's son, underscores his father's demand that the Assembly adjourn by putting his fist through one of the windows in the Assembly room. "I ups with my fist and slashed it through the window," he confesses. He is unrepentant, but then, so is the governor.
