Financial Policies

Investment Decisions
Normally, there is a maximum contribution of $75 000 per project for individual businesses and $250 000 for communities-owned businesses. Support for projects defined as strategic investments may exceed $250 000.

Equity/Investments for Commercial Ventures
The minimum level of equity required will normally be 10% of eligible project costs. No legal minimum equity requirements exist for non-commercial ventures; however, the minimum requirement for an applicant's equity contribution is 15 percent and, when possible, Aboriginal Business Canada expects and encourages a higher level of participation. For youth applicants, the minimum equity requirement is 10 percent.

Eligible Marketing Costs
For eligible projects, Aboriginal Business Canada supports marketing initiatives that are in addition to a firm's normal marketing efforts and that are detailed in an acceptable marketing plan.
