Learning, Education and Training

Back to workinfonet PEI Main PageEducation and training are the processes by which you acquire knowledge and skills to assist you in obtaining and keeping a job. Most jobs today require considerable education and training and, increasingly, a single course or program of study is not sufficient for your entire working life. The qualifications for keeping a job are also constantly changing.

The steps below are to assist you in determining if you have the qualifications to access jobs of your preference, and to provide information on obtaining additional education and training.

Steps

  1. Identify and list your education, training, occupational skills and abilities, and career goals. Click on Resume for assistance in preparing this information.

  2. Identify job options that are of interest to you. For assistance, you may want to review some of the sites under the Jobs, Work and Recruiting category.

  3. Match job options with your education, training, and occupational skills to determine
    a) jobs for which you are qualified to access, and
    b) jobs for which you require additional education and training to access.

  4. Make a decision on further action, for example
    a) stay in your current job, or apply for other jobs for which you are qualified to fill, or
    b) determine additional education and training you will need to access jobs of your preference.

  5. Now that you have decided to seek further education and training, a list of links to resources is provided below to assist you in archiving your educational and training goals.
