Census 2006

On May 16th, 2006, Canadians will taken part in our country's next census, 340 years after the first census was taken in New France. Between May 2 and May 13, 2006, census questionnaires will be delivered to more than 50,000 households in Prince Edward Island.

Census results are important to Canada and particularly important to the Province of Prince Edward Island. Funding formulas for major federal transfer payments to provinces are based, in part, on population counts. Every person not counted in the census will result in lost dollars to the province and, therefore, lower funding for essential programs. Click on the following links for more information:
